To install the ST 93 Ripper kit on your 110 cc bike, follow these steps. If you have additional instructions, refer to the installation instructions that come with your Ripper kit. The Ripper is part number 2889175 for Yamaha®, part number 2889174 for Kawasaki® and part number 2889173 for Honda®.
1. Before beginning, turn the key or ignition switch to OFF and remove the key.
2. Safely elevate the motorcycle so that both wheels are off the ground, and secure it properly to prevent tipping when the wheels are removed.
3. Begin disassembly of the vehicle by removing the seat.
4. Remove the side panels.
5. Disconnect the battery to prevent any accidental arcing.
6. Remove the chain guard.
7. Disconnect the master link on the chain and remove the chain.
8. Remove the rear brake pedal from the frame. Allow the pedal and the spring to hang out of the way.
9. Remove the upper shock bolt or pin on the rear suspension.
10. Remove the rear swing arm bolt.
11. Remove the shock, tire, brake, and swing arm assembly from the motorcycle as a complete unit. Cable ties can be used to help keep all hardware organized during storage.
12. Move to the handlebars, and remove the front brake lever and any retention points from the front forks.
13. Loosen and remove the front axle bolt and remove the wheel.
14. Remove the front drive sprocket cover and drive sprocket.
15. Position the Ripper track assembly near the bike and align the rear swing arm bolt locations.
16. If necessary, insert the required spacers. Some kits will require spacers. Refer to the kit instruction for your specific bike.
17. Slide the provided swing arm bolt and locknut in from the left-hand side of the bike. Torque the fastener 40 ft-lbs. (54 Nm).
18. Bolt the lower portion of the strut rod to the Ripper assembly using a 16mm socket and the provided bolt and lock nut. Do not torque at this time.
19. Attach the upper portion of the strut rod into the motorcycle’s upper shock bracket using the bike's upper shock mount bolt or pin.
20. Torque the fastener to your manufacturer’s specifications. Kawasaki® models will skip this step.
21. Once the upper portion is attached, torque the lower portion of the strut rod to 45 ft-lbs. (61 Nm).
22. Refer to the provided instructions to route the brake line assembly for your specific bike. Ensure the line is properly retained and not kinked. There should be a minimum of 1 inch of clearance between the brake line and lower head set turning stop posts.
23. Loosely attach the brake lever perch to the right handlebar.
24. Once the perch is attached, adjust the pitch of the brake lever, ensuring it is easily reached and easy to pull.
25. Once adjusted, torque the fasteners to your manufacturer’s specifications with a 4mm Allen socket.
26. Place the sprocket backer plate spacers and the chain guard into position on the backer plate. Some models may require the removal of an additional fastener.
27. Install the provided sprocket onto the motorcycle’s transmission output shaft.
28. Slide the backer plate, spacer, and chain guard assembly onto the transmission output shaft and into position.
29. Before installing apply Loctite® to the provided bolts. Use Blue Loctite® 243.
30. Tighten the backer plate to the engine case and use a 10mm socket to torque to the bike manufacturer’s specifications before the chain is installed and chain tension is set. Installing the chain before this step can cause the drive sprocket to become misaligned and cause damage to your vehicle.
31. Route the chain around the front and rear sprocket.
32. Using a cable tie or snap ring pliers, bring the chain close enough together to install the provided master link.
33. Use a flat-head screwdriver to install the master link with the opening of the link facing rearward in relation to the chain direction. Ensure the zip tie is removed before proceeding.
34. Set proper chain tension by loosening the chain slider nut and bolt. Use a 15mm socket and wrench.
35. Slide the chain slider up or down until 1/2-inch to 5/8-inch of vertical deflection is met in the upper chord of the drive chain.
36. Once the proper tension is achieved, torque the chain slider nut to 18 ft-lbs (25 Nm). The chain will stretch within the first 5 hours. Be sure to check for proper chain tension after the initial break-in period, and readjust as necessary.
37. Place the ski rubber on top of the ski. The ski rubber will be marked with the word “Front” to indicate which end points toward the front tip of the ski.
38. Install the spindle on top of the rubber and align the mounting holes.
39. Install the provided bolt washers and nut with a 15mm socket and 16mm wrench. Torque the fastener to 37 ft-lbs. (50 Nm).
40. Insert the front spindle reducers into the spindle.
41. Use the existing front axle bolt to attach the front spindle to the forks. Tighten until snug.
42. Place one half of the composite fork clamp on the fork tubes, and align with the forks and spindle backer plate.
43. Install the other half of the clamp, and align the mounting holes.
44. Align the fork clamp plate on the front side.
45. Install the provided fasteners through the clamp plate and secure with the provided nuts. Torque the fasteners to 15 ft-lbs (20 Nm) with a 10mm socket.
46. Torque the front axle bolt to the bike manufacturer’s specifications.
47. Install the rear cowling over the track assembly and align the mounting holes. Ensure the chain guard portion of the cowling is positioned behind the drive sprocket plate.
48. Secure the front of the cowling with the provided nylon rivets and repeat on the other side.
49. Push the rear of the cowling forward to align the rear mounting holes. Install the provided nylon rivets on each side.
50. Begin reassembly by reconnecting the battery.
51. Reinstall the side panels and, finally, reinstall the seat.
