Dear Polaris/509 Customer,
We regret to inform you that 509 has issued a recall on certain 509 and 509 for Polaris helmets with Fidlock®, which are identified below. Our records indicate that you may own an affected helmet. If you have an affected helmet, please stop using the affected helmet immediately.
509 has determined that on certain 509 and 509 for Polaris helmets with Fidlock® (manufactured from 2020 to present with a stainless steel glide bar), the webbing on the chin strap may not be routed correctly. An incorrectly routed chin strap could allow a retention buckle separation in the event of a crash and may not provide sufficient protection in the event of a crash, posing an increased risk of head injury. 509 has notified the Consumer Product Safety Commission about the issue.

Identifying an Affected Helmet
- If affected, inspect the webbing on the chin strap using the owner's manual addendum below. Read, understand, and follow the below owner’s manual addendum. Once you’ve completed the instructions in the owner’s manual addendum and confirmed the webbing on the chin strap is routed correctly, you may continue to use your helmet. Continue to follow the instructions to confirm that the webbing on the chin strap is routed correctly each time you use your helmet.
- If you are unable to reroute the strap properly, contact 509 or Polaris using the contact information below.
- Failure to follow these instructions may lead to injury.
